Take A Knee In Prayer

Precious Prayers of the Saints

Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain… He came and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom of priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” – Revelation 5:6-10

Message:  Every prayer we pray is rising to heaven as a pleasant fragrance to God. Every tear shed in communion with God is precious to him. Keep sending a sweet incense to heaven.

Affirmation:  I was not worthy, but Jesus, the lamb, is worthy and he has made me worthy. He has received my prayers as a sweet incense.

Reflection:  Remember this passage the next time you become discouraged in your praying. Your prayers are being kept before the Lord as incense, a pleasant fragrance. God will answer.

Hezekiah Bends His Knee In Prayer

10/30/2015

King Hezekiah (2 Kings 18-19) was faced with a problem greater than anything we have ever faced. He woke up one day and Jerusalem was surrounded by 200,000 enemy soldiers and the commanding general was calling for surrender. It was an impossible situation, so what did Hezekiah do? He went to the temple to pray.

A lesson we need to learn is when we are facing great trials it is not time to complain or become discouraged, but it is time to pray. I have written a short book that tells this story of Hezekiah and parallels it with a time in my own ministry when I was facing an impossible situation. The book is called Tough Times Produce Tough People. You can have this book, along with the 31 day devotional, titled Prayer, when you join the Take A Knee In Prayer Challenge.

It is very easy to join the challenge Just fill in the form below with your name and email address then click the "I'm Joining" button. When you do that you will be given access to the two free books, Tough Times Produce Tough People and the devotional on Prayer.

Take A Knee In Prayer - Living Near The Altar

10/15/2015

A Few Weeks ago the Lord spoke to me while at a conference. His message was simply, "Return to the altar of your youth." I was reminded of how I would go to the church when no one else was there and go down to the altar and there I would bare my soul to the Lord. I believe it was those trips to the altar that carried me through my teen age years and kept me from going out into the world as many of the young people from our church did.

I shared this word with a group of pastors I have prayer with every Friday and the whole group felt God calling them back to the altar. A local pastor offered to loan me an altar bench, we didn't have one in our mission church. This past Sunday I put the altar at the front of our worship area and preached the message that God had given me to preach.

The message was titled, "Living Near the Altar," and tells the story of Abraham, the altars he built and the problems he had when he moved away from the altar. I concluded by telling my story and then called people to the altar. God did a mighty work in the altar Sunday.

You can hear the entire message  by clicking on the audio bar above. My prayer is that God will call you to the altar also.

A Great Awakening

9/9/2015

Are You Ready for another
great awakening in america

In his book, The Seven Mountains of Prophecy, Johnny Enlow identifies seven "mountains," or power and/or authority:
  1. The Mountain of Media
  2. The Mountain of Government
  3. The Mountain of Education
  4. The Mountain of Economy
  5. The Mountain of Religion
  6. The Mountain of Celebration
  7. The Mountain of Family

We must baptize each of these mountains of influence with prayer. We are being called  by God at this time to seek his face concerning each of these mountains and to do all that we can to influence them to turn back to God.

We have been calling for 1000 Prayer Warriors who will join with us in praying for these three things:

  1. Awakening and revival in the body of Christ
  2. Another Great Awakening in America
  3. An Awakening in our individual communities

Will you join with us? If you will just give us your name and email address in the form below and click on the "I'm Joining" button.

Take A Knee Challenge

God, Will you not save a remnant?

As a judgment from God was being carried out against the unfaithful of Israel the destruction was so devastating that Ezekiel the prophet fell face down and cried out in a loud voice, "Ah Sovereign Lord! Will you completely destroy the remnant of Israel?" (Ezekiel 11:13)

Many across our nation and around the world are crying out to God in the same manner. Not only are the wicked becoming more wicked but the church is becoming more tolerant of evil. Many believe that we are about to face the same kind of destruction that caused Ezekiel to fall on face before God and cry out for mercy.

We are calling for prayer warriors to join with us in crying out to God for a great awakening.
  • First, we are praying for a revival in the church, the body of Christ. Our prayer is that God would awaken us to the time we are in and stir our hearts that we might live faithfully before him and submit to the righteousness of God.
  • Second, we are seeking God for another great awakening in America. A spiritual awakening among unbelievers will not happen until the church is awakened and hears the call of God to righteousness and is revived.
  • Third, we are calling men and women across America, and even around the world, to seek God for an awakening in their own communities; among business owners, governmental leaders, our neighbors, friends and acquaintances.

Will you join with us and accept the challenge to become one of the 1000 Prayer Warriors who are going to prayer daily and seeking God for these three areas?

If you haven't yet accepted this Challenge, I encourage you to do that. When you do accept this challenge you will receive immediate access to two books. The first is a 31 day devotional on prayer and the second one is a book of encouragement and inspiration titled, "Tough Times Produce Tough People." 1000 Knees Bending In Prayer Daily

Recently while I was having my daily prayer and devotion time I felt impressed to challenge believers across America and around the world to daily take a knee in prayer. This website is dedicated to calling people to prayer and it was started with the Take A Knee In Prayer 30 Day Challenge.

I continue to call people to accept the challenge to Take A Knee In Prayer for 30 Days, but I am extending the 30 Day Challenge to become a commitment to daily prayer. My goal for this month is to get 1000 people to commit that they will pray every day.

I feel that there is to be a particular focus to our daily prayer.

First: we are to pray for the body of Christ in America. Many are believing for a period of revival before the return of Christ, but there will be no widespread revival as long as the body of Christ languishes in mediocrity.

Whenever Jesus spoke of prayer it was in the context of diligently seeking God and that is what I am calling men and women to today. I appeal to the people of God who are serious about their spiritual journey, and who are concerned about others in the body of Christ being committed to their journey of faith,  to join with us in praying for revival to start in the body of Christ.

Second: I am calling for the awakened and revived body of Christ to seek the face of God for another great awakening in America. When the church is fully awakened to who she is and what she is to be in the world today then we are in a position to see God bring a great awakening.

God answered the cry of believers in America in the mid to late 18th century with men like Jonathon Edwards who first called believers to repent then called those outside the church to surrender to God. The result was the first great awakening.

God gave us the formula for another great awakening in 2 Chronicles 7:14
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

I urge you to join with us in seeking God for revival among believers and an awakening among unbelievers.

If you haven't yet taken the 30 Day Challenge, and the extended long term commitment,  I encourage you to do that. When you do accept this challenge you will receive immediate access to two books. The first is a 31 day devotional on prayer and the second one is a book of encouragement and inspiration titled, "Tough Times Produce Tough People." All you need to do to accept the 30 Day Challenge is to fill in the form below with your name and email address then click the "I'm Joining" button.

Time To Pray For Our Nation

5/7/2015

I recently listened to a talk given by Kitty Werthmann an 87 year old survivor of Hitler's regime in Germany and Austria. Her story of how Hitler inspired hope in her fellow countrymen by offering free education for the children, free medicine and healthcare, full employment and a guaranteed income for everyone.

As I listened to this message alarm bells began to go off in my head as I saw similarities between what was happening in Europe then and what is happening here in the USA right now... you will want to listen to this talk by Kitty Werthmann.

Would you commit to Take A Knee In Prayer For Our Nation?

This blog and website is dedicated to calling men and women to prayer. It is time for us to awaken to the attacks of the enemy of our soul and go to battle in the only effective way to defeat him... PRAYER!

If you haven't accepted the Take A Knee In Prayer 30 Day Challenge yet I strongly encourage yo to do so. When you do accept the challenge you will be given access to two books absolutely free.

The first book is a devotional on prayer. This book is a whole month of devotions which explore prayer from many different perspectives and each day includes a short prayer for that day.

The second book is titled Tough Times Produce Tough People. This book is about how we overcame a difficult time in our ministry and what tools we used to overcome.

A Prayer of Job - Release from unrelenting pain

4/14/2015

Oh, that I might have my request, that God would grant what I hope for, that God would be willing to crush me, to let loose his hand and cut me off! Then I would still have this consolation - my joy in unrelenting pain - that I had not denied the words of the Holy One. - Job 6:8-10

This is a heart breaking prayer. Job is so miserable that he just wants to die. His prayer is that God would finish the job and just crush him. I have never been the victim of chronic pain, but I have known those who were and that kind of constant, unrelenting pain causes a person to seek death rather than to go on suffering.

However, Job wasn't just wanting to end his suffering. He wanted to end his life before he became unable to resist being bitter toward God and denying him. At the heart of his prayer was his devotion to God and his Word.

When our devotion is to God and not to ourselves then God can reveal himself.

Prayer: Lord, help me to not give in to any temptation, especially the temptation to accuse you or to deny the truth of your word. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Job Prays: the Lord gives and the lord takes away

4/10/2015

Job 1:20-22 - Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said:  "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised."

Job was in the middle of the greatest trial of his life. In one day's time he lost his sons and daughters, his enemy stole his livestock and killed his servants, fire destroyed his sheep and servants, and finally finally his camels were stolen and those servants put to the sword.

In the morning he was among the greatest men in the region, by afternoon all that he had accomplished in his life was destroyed.

Filled with loss and grief he cries out, "The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised." Job was a true man of faith.

I don't have nearly as much to lose as Job, but my prayer is that should I lose it all I would be able to trust God and realize that it is all in his hands.

Prayer: Lord, I may not have a lot, but what I do have has been a blessing from you. Help me to always be thankful and to realize that all I have is only on loan from you and you can call it back at any time. Grant me the grace that whatever happens in life I can say "The Lord be praised." Amen.
