A Few Weeks ago the Lord spoke to me while at a conference. His message was simply, "Return to the altar of your youth." I was reminded of how I would go to the church when no one else was there and go down to the altar and there I would bare my soul to the Lord. I believe it was those trips to the altar that carried me through my teen age years and kept me from going out into the world as many of the young people from our church did.
I shared this word with a group of pastors I have prayer with every Friday and the whole group felt God calling them back to the altar. A local pastor offered to loan me an altar bench, we didn't have one in our mission church. This past Sunday I put the altar at the front of our worship area and preached the message that God had given me to preach.
The message was titled, "Living Near the Altar," and tells the story of Abraham, the altars he built and the problems he had when he moved away from the altar. I concluded by telling my story and then called people to the altar. God did a mighty work in the altar Sunday.
You can hear the entire message by clicking on the audio bar above. My prayer is that God will call you to the altar also.
